Steps to Enroll for Students with Prior College Experience

How to Apply and Enroll

Welcome to Lane! We're glad you've chosen to enroll as a credit student at Lane. By following these Steps to Enroll, you will continue to fulfill your academic dreams! Remember, when you enroll early, your chances of getting the classes you need increase. So please do not wait until the last minute to enroll.

If you previously pursued a degree at another college, you're in the right place! If your only prior college experience was taking college courses while in high school, you should use the First Time in College steps.

Admissions Application

Welcome to Lane! Start by submitting your application at least six business days before the start of your session.

Once you complete your application, you'll receive a confirmation email. You can then log into the admissions portal to check the status of your application and see your next steps. Once your application has been processed, you'll receive your L-Number (Student ID Number) and student email. You'll need your L Number to complete the rest of the admissions steps. If you run into any trouble, or have any questions, reach out to admissions@lanecc.edu.

To be eligible for financial aid, complete the FAFSA. Apply early, as it can take 4-12 weeks to process aid awards once all documents have been received.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • An email address you have access to
  • Your Social Security Number, if you'll be applying for financial aid

Course Placement

If you've previously taken both math and writing courses as your previous college, we'll use those courses at your orientation or advising session to help you select your courses. You can go directly to step 3.

If you didn't take either a math or a writing course, we can use your high school GPA, prior college courses, AP, or IB scores, Smarter Balance scores, or other measures to determine your placement. You'll also have the option to take a placement test to help determine an appropriate math and writing placement.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • AP, IB, Smarter Balance, GED, SAT, or ACT scores, if you have them and if you haven't taken both a writing and a math course
  • Your prior college transcripts
  • Your high school GPA
  • Your L Number
