How to Apply and Enroll

Follow the steps listed below in order to enroll in and prepare for GED/ABSE classes. These steps will help you enroll, fill out any paperwork you may need to submit, and learn how to use technology to participate in online classes.

GED Students: You need to earn a high school credential because you do not have a high school diploma or because you completed high school in another country and your diploma is not recognized in the US. You may also be interested in preparing for college entry.

ABSE Students: You have a high school diploma or GED and you need to develop academic skills in reading, writing, and/or math before entering a college credit program. ABSE may be a good option for you if you do not currently have financial aid, or your financial aid package consists only of loans.

Required Form for Students Under 18

If you are under 18: You will need to submit an “Exemption from Compulsory Attendance” from your school district, or a “Parent Assurance Form” from Lane ESD if you are homeschooled. Your application cannot be completed until this form is submitted or sent to the ABSE office at abse@lanecc.edu. If you have questions about this process, please call the ABSE office at (541) 463-5214.

If you are 18 years old or older, skip this step.

Check Your Email

Once your application has been processed, you’ll receive an email from LCC with your L-Number (Student ID Number) and student email. You'll need your L Number to complete the rest of the admissions steps. You will also receive a follow-up email from the ABSE department about course selection and required orientation.

Please check your spam folders, if you don’t receive an email within a day or two after applying.

Complete the Placement Survey and Schedule Your Orientation

Once your application is accepted, the ABSE office will email you a link to fill out a class placement survey and sign up for orientation. Once you have completed the survey and attended orientation, you will be scheduled into ABSE/GED classes and emailed your class schedule.

Setting up your myLane Account

If you are a new student:

You will receive a 2nd email from LCC with your myLane temporary password and login instructions.
