Course Embedded Tutoring (CET)

What is a Course Embedded Tutor (CET)?

A Course Embedded Tutors (CETs) are connected directly to your class and instructor. Depending on the setup, a CET may:

  • Attend class sessions and provide in-the-moment support
  • Be part of your class Moodle shell to share reminders, resources, and updates
  • Provide support with assignments, projects, or labs (in or outside of the class time)
  • Offer one-on-one or small group support outside of class
  • Lead study or review sessions

Because they work closely with your instructor, CETs know the course expectations and materials inside and out.

Benefits of Working with a CET

Two friends, young women in cozy winter jackets, studying in the library and smiling
  • Instructor insight: CETs understand your instructor’s goals, teaching style, and assignments.
  • Peer perspective: Many CETs have taken the same class themselves. They know what it’s like to be a student and can share strategies that worked for them.
  • Campus connections: CETs can guide you to other tutoring and campus resources when you need extra help.

How a CET Can Support You

You can reach out to a CET for help with:

  • Clarifying assignments or course materials
  • Tracking assignments and due dates in Moodle (or learning where to find them)
  • Building study strategies tailored to the course
  • Using technology or tools related to the class
  • Making a plan for the term and checking progress
  • Connecting to other tutoring services or resources
