The team is currently in the process of conducting preliminary programming efforts to delineate the project's scope and to initiate the hiring process for a design team. The goal is to commence the initial construction phase during the summer of 2024, with the objective of achieving full occupancy by February 2025.
Building 15 is designated for this purpose, and the project encompasses a range of improvements to extend the life of aging infrastructure including:
- Enhancing safety measures
- Implementing seismic retrofitting
- Repairing and modernizing facilities
- Updating technology infrastructure
- Ensuring accessibility compliance
- Revitalizing science laboratories
PIVOT Architecture has contributed a comprehensive feasibility study specifically tailored for the Public Safety occupancy of Building 15, proposing detailed sitework concepts that include the demolition of sections of raised platforms west of B15. Furthermore, the study incorporates plans for parking, drive lane, and pedestrian improvements in the surrounding area, aiming to optimize functionality and accessibility for the new public safety facility.
