Support Career Pathways

C.A.R.E. Fund

Basic needs insecurity affects nearly half of Oregon college students. Basic needs insecurity is defined as lacking access to essential resources such as food, housing, child care, transportation, technology, mental health services, and more (ECMC Foundation, n.d.) These challenges disproportionately impact low-income students, rural, first-generation, students with disabilities, and parenting students. Basic Needs Oregon aims to close opportunity gaps for low-income college students by connecting them to essential resources. Your contribution to this fund allows our basic needs team to provide scholarships to students experiencing such barriers, thus enabling them to persist at the college and reach their academic/career goals. If you would like to learn more about the impact of this statewide initiative, please see our midterm report

Esperanza Fund / LCC Dreams Fund

Created in 2006, in loving memory of Esperanza Ayala, the Esperanza Fund was initiated to address the financial needs of English Language Learner students to support their successful entry into a training, certificate, or degree program.  It is now one of several funding sources that make up the LCC Dreams Fund, as a more comprehensive assistance fund providing financial support to students facing challenges to accessing federal Financial Aid, including DACA, Dreamer, and first-generation immigrant students.  The funds are primarily to support: Tuition/Fees, Books, Overdue payments/bills, and Educational supplies.
