If you are an immigrant or hold Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) or Temporary Protected Status (TPS), you are not eligible for federal financial aid. However, Lane and the State of Oregon offer a variety of programs, services, and financial resources that may help you reach your educational goals. The information and links below are intended to help you navigate those opportunities and connect with support services on campus.

What is DACA?

DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. It is a federal government program that helps some young people who came to the United States from another country before they turned 16 and have lived here for many years. To qualify, individuals must have been in the U.S. since before 2007 and have finished high school or earned a GED. DACA does not provide citizenship, and students who are undocumented, have DACA, or have Temporary Protected Status (TPS) are not eligible for federal financial aid.

Help Paying for College

Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA)

The Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA) is a form for Oregon students who cannot fill out the FAFSA, which is the federal form used to apply for college financial aid from the U.S. government. The ORSAA helps students who are undocumented or have DACA or TPS apply for state grants, scholarships, and lower tuition costs, including the Oregon Opportunity Grant, Oregon Promise Grant, and some OSAC scholarships. Students should apply as early as possible each year to have the best chance to receive financial aid.

Oregon Opportunity Grant

By completing your ORSAA, you will be considered for the Oregon Opportunity Grant (OOG), Oregon’s largest state grant that helps students pay for college. The grant is for Oregon residents earning their first college degree, and money is given on a first-come, first-served basis each year.

Oregon Promise

The Oregon Promise is a state grant that helps recent high school and GED® graduates pay for tuition at an Oregon community college. To be considered, students must complete both the Oregon Promise application and the ORSAA.

Lane Community College Foundation
