Professional Licensure Disclosure

The U.S. Department of Education and the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) for participation in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA) requires an institution to disclose whether a program will fulfill educational requirements for licensure or certification for each state.

The programs listed below may lead to a professional license or certification required for employment. Requirements vary from state to state. We recommend students contact the appropriate state licensing agency in their state or the state where they intend to work for up-to-date information about state licensure/certification requirements before beginning a program.

In Oregon, PTAs must graduate from a CAPTE-accredited institution, and pass the National Physical Therapist Assistant Examination to become licensed. A license is required for employment in 48+ states. There are 2 PTA programs in Oregon; therefore an AAS PTA degree is required for license-eligibility, but not specifically an LCC AAS PTA degree. The AAS degree must include between 540 and 720 hours of clinical experiences in physical therapy settings under supervision, and attainment of "entry-level" competencies by the terminal clinical experience to be eligible for the degree award. Graduates meet education eligibility for the National Physical Therapist Assistant Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy.
