Kevin Alltucker’s career has spanned multiple disciplines over forty years with themes of problem-solving, addressing the effects of early childhood trauma, and social justice. After graduating from Oregon State University with a Construction Engineering degree, Kevin worked in the heavy construction field for 20 years, demonstrating his abilities to address and solve complex construction issues through a collaborative project management approach. Then, a volunteer experience in 1992 with the Relief Nursery, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and families in the Eugene Springfield area changed Kevin’s professional trajectory. Kevin followed the call to serve vulnerable children and earned a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 2004 and became an Assistant Professor in the Family and Human Services department. His early research was documenting the developmental trajectories of abused and neglected children as they entered the juvenile justice system and the adult criminal system and he incorporated that research into his classes to give students a theoretical basis of how communities can support young children and families to promote healthy development. Kevin also worked for Lane County Youth Services as a program evaluator and authored studies on treatment programs and racial disparities in the juvenile justice system. Kevin is a nationally certified Inside-Out instructor and has taught many university classes inside Oregon’s prisons. Kevin’s most recent work has been with the City of Eugene, serving as the project manager for the Community Safety Initiative and staffing the Ad Hoc Committee on Police Policy.
