Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (MEChA) is a student organization that promotes higher education, cultura, and historia. MEChA was founded on the principles of self-determination for the liberation of our people. We believe that political involvement and education is the avenue for change in our society.

What brought you to LCC?

I’ve always believed in the power of connection — through food, art, music, and storytelling — to create spaces where people feel seen and supported. I’m excited about building community and helping students develop skills that will serve them in school, work, and life. I don’t have all the answers, but I’m committed to showing up, listening, and working hard to support students every step of the way.

What do you like to do for fun outside of work?

I’m a second-generation mariachi musician — though honestly, it’s more like a second job because I perform a lot! But I couldn’t live without it. Music is something my soul craves. I’ve been singing and performing for as long as I can remember, and I plan to keep doing it until the very end.

Give us your hottest take.

I’m a taco aficionado. Hot take — you can have chicken, pork, beef, tofu, whatever you want… red salsa, green salsa, salsa chipotle — but you can’t put ketchup on tacos! That’s not fusion—that’s confusion. Respect the taco!
