Choose your pathway

Advanced EMT (AEMT)

We offer AEMT as a noncredit course. You'll need your Oregon EMT certification to enroll. After you complete our course, you'll be eligible to take the National AEMT exam, which can lead to national certification and Oregon licensure as an AEMT.

EMT Intermediate (EMTI)

We offer EMTI as a noncredit course. An Oregon AEMT certification is required to enroll in EMTI-only training (when offered). Successful completion leads to Oregon licensure as an EMTI.

Course format

This is a hybrid course that includes in-class, online, and open practice lab components. The training focuses on advanced EMS techniques and medication administration with a stronger emphasis on anatomy and physiology. This is not a paramedic course, but it is more intensive than EMT (basic) training.

Important note about current offerings

Our Winter cohort is a combined AEMT/EMTI training. Because the content is integrated throughout the term, students cannot attend only the EMTI portions of the combined training.

Requirements

  • Oregon EMT license is required to attend AEMT training.
  • Immunization & compliance requirements: As students in a healthcare field, there are CDC and Oregon Health Authority requirements, including COVID-19 vaccination as required by our clinical and field partners. Please begin collecting immunization records; details on the tracking system will be provided at orientation.
  • CPR: Only the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider card is accepted. CPR training is available through Lane for students who need it (see Lane EMS CPR).
