Zone 4 represents the eastern part of the college district.
Austin Fölnagy joined the LCC Board in 2021. He previously was elected to the Klamath Community College Board and Southern Oregon ESD Board. His work includes almost 14 years in workforce development, business services, political organizing, labor relations, and education. Austin attended North Idaho College and University of Idaho where he majored in Political Science and Organizational Science, with graduate studies in Organizational Dynamics.
Previously Austin served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Lane Community College Board, and most recently as Vice President of Oregon Community College Association (OCCA). Currently Austin Serves as President of OCCA, where he leads its board and advocates for community colleges at a state and national level. Austin is also the current Owner and Founder of Magyar Property Management and Investment, which has been praised recently for its work with local nonprofits.
Austin lives along the McKenzie River and was directly impacted by the fires in the summer of 2020. It was the compassion/love from the community post fire that inspired him to run for the Lane Community College board and give back to this community that gave him so much during the worst days of his life. “We have something special here in this compassionate community," said Austin. "I hope my actions and efforts rebuilds a greater McKenzie community and continue to build a greater Lane County.”
Representing East Lane County, Austin wants to promote access to higher education in rural areas and develop the workforce to create economic opportunities and growth, including increasing dual enrollment of high school students and enrollments of underserved populations in a post-covid world. “Community college is a bridge in a post-covid world for our economy and to create next generation workforce.”
