Important Notice: Transitioning to Prerequisite-Based Registration Please note that the 2026-2027 academic year is the final year that students will be required to submit a formal application for second-year courses. Starting in 2027, admission into the second year will shift to a prerequisite-based model, where students meet specific course requirements and register early to secure their spot.

Admission to the Graphic Design Program
Lane's Graphic Design Program is a two-year Career Technical program leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree.
- First-year courses: Open to all students.
- Second-year courses: Space is limited.
- 2026-2027 - All interested students must complete the official application process. In addition to meeting all prerequisites, the application requires students to submit a Portfolio Design Project, unofficial transcripts, and a short essay.
- 2027-2028 and beyond - Admission will no longer require a formal application. Instead interested students must successfully complete all prerequisite courses and register for courses early.
Pro Tip: Because second-year studio space is limited, meeting prerequisites does not guarantee a seat if the section is full. Moving forward, early registration will be the most critical step for continuing students.
Transferring Credits
Many classes required to complete two-year programs can be transferred to four-year colleges. We recommend checking with your Academic Advisor or your target transfer institution for the most current transfer equivalencies.
