About Business & Hotel Management School

Business & Hotel Management School (BHMS) is a private hospitality and culinary school in Lucerne, Switzerland. As part of the Benedict Education Group, the school has been teaching in Switzerland for more than 27 years. All classes are taught in English, chefs teach in professional production kitchens, and every year of study is paired with a paid industry internship.

  • Degrees are dual-awarded with Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, UK, so you graduate with a Swiss and a British qualification.
  • Every degree year is six months of study followed by a six-month paid internship in Switzerland or abroad.

Location

BHMS is located in Lucerne, Switzerland, a lakeside city at the foot of the Alps and one of the country’s most visited destinations. With the lake, the mountains, the covered wooden Chapel Bridge and a car-free old town you can cross on foot in fifteen minutes, you will find it an easy place to call home.

  • Lucerne is the capital of the canton of Lucerne, in German-speaking central Switzerland.
  • Zurich Airport is about one hour away by direct train. Bern, Basel and Interlaken are under two hours, and Milan is about three.
  • Switzerland is consistently ranked among the safest countries in the world, and Lucerne is small enough to walk or cycle end to end. The city has sports facilities, lake swimming, cinemas, theatres, museums, year-round festivals and a strong restaurant scene, with skiing about an hour away.

Transfer Requirements

Lane advisers will meet with you throughout your first two years to plan and ensure that you are on track to complete your pre-requisites. BHMS will help guide you through their application and help you get your visa.

Completing the listed courses earns you your Lane credential plus direct entry into the second year (fourth semester) of the three-year BA in Culinary Arts at BHMS, jointly awarded by BHMS and Robert Gordon University.
Completed application to BHMS at least four months before your intended start date, normally during your second year at Lane.

  • G.P.A. of 2.0 upon graduation
  • Completion of one of the following programs at Lane: Culinary Arts: Commercial Cooking (CPC), which leads into the Higher Diploma in Culinary Arts at BHMS, or Baking & Pastry, 1-Year Certificate, which leads into the Higher Diploma in Pastry, Chocolate & Bakery.
  • English proficiency: IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. If you do not yet meet that level, BHMS offers a ten-week Preparatory English Program before your degree starts.
