Prior College New Student Advising Sessions

Important: If you have not completed a Writing Composition course with a grade C- or higher at a previous college, your next step before you meet with your academic advising team is to sign up for an appointment to complete Placement Testing in reading and writing. In addition, if you have not completed a college Math course with a grade C- or higher within the last four terms, AND you need to take Math at Lane, sign up for the Math Placement test too.

If you have completed the required writing course, you are eligible to participate in drop-in for an individual New Student Academic Advising Session and you may continue to follow these instructions. Please bring a copy of your prior college transcripts to your session. Unofficial transcripts are okay. When the session is completed, you may have access to same-day registration.

Please use the list and calendar below, to find out when your session will be held. Keep in mind that drop-in sessions are held on a first-come, first-served basis, and the date and time you choose to attend may be full when you arrive, requiring you to select an alternative.

The last week to drop-in for your summer term New Student Academic Advising Session varies according to the session you plan to attend. Summer session start dates.

The last week to drop-in for your fall term New Student Academic Advising Session is the week of September 21.

How to use this system:

  • Find your major/program of study under the proper category below
  • Pick a date and time to drop in from the times for that category
  • Check in for your session at the Counseling and Advising Center, 30th Avenue campus, in Building 1, Room 103
  • After your New Student Academic Advising Session, you may have access to same-day registration

REMEMBER: If you need to complete placement testing for writing, reading and/or math, you must do this before attending your New Student Academic Advising Session.

If you need additional support to complete this process, please contact us using the Counseling and Advising email form (preferred), or call (541) 463-3200 for more information.
