Step 1 - Admissions Application
Welcome to Lane! Start by submitting your application for spring at least six business days before the start of your session. If you're applying for spring, submit your application before Friday, March 20th. Once you complete your application, you'll receive a confirmation email. Within one to three business days you'll receive your L Number (Student ID Number) and a temporary password. You'll need your L Number to complete the rest of the steps.
To be eligible for financial aid, complete the FAFSA. Apply early, as it can take 4-12 weeks to process aid awards once all documents have been received.
Step 2 - New Student Information Session
If you’ve attended a college after graduating from high school or earning your GED, or have military college transcripts, your next step is to complete the New Student Information Session (NSIS). This short, online module will help you learn about student services, important deadlines, and your rights as a student.
If Lane will be your first college you attend after graduating high school or earning your GED, there's no need to worry about this step—you'll cover this information at your orientation.
Step 3 - Course Placement
Placement testing can help you ensure you're successful in your classes. While many students require a placement test to help determine an appropriate Math and Writing placement, you may also be able to use your prior college courses, AP or IB scores, Smarter Balance scores, or other measures to determine your placement. You may be able to complete your placement testing and New Student Orientation on the same day. Please see the date options in Step 4 to determine a date you can sign up for a 9:30 a.m. placement test and a 2:00 p.m. If you're applying for summer, you'll need to complete this step at least four days before the start of your session. You'll need to complete this step for spring by Wednesday, March 25th.
