Steps to Enroll

1 - Application

Step 1 - Admissions Application

Welcome to Lane! Start by submitting your application for winter term by December 28th. Once you complete your application, you'll receive a confirmation email. Within one to three days you'll receive your L Number (Student ID Number) and a temporary password. You'll need your L Number to complete the rest of the steps.

Complete the Admissions Application

To be eligible for financial aid, complete the FAFSA. Apply early, as it can take 4-12 weeks to process aid awards once all documents have been received.

2 - Orientation

Step 2 - New Student Information Session

Once you have your L Number, complete the New Student Information Session (NSIS). This short, online module will help you learn about student services, important deadlines, and your rights as a student.

3 - Placement

Step 3 - Course Placement

Placement testing can help you ensure you're successful in your classes. While many students require a placement test to help determine an appropriate Math and Writing placement, you may also be able to use your prior college courses, AP or IB scores, Smarter Balance scores, or other measures to determine your placement. You'll need to complete this step by January 2nd.

Step 4 - Start Right Advising

First Time in College Students

  1. If you did not need to take a placement test, you must bring a copy (unofficial is fine) of your IB or AP scores to the Start Right Advising session. We need to review transcripts in order to release you to register.
  2. If you received college credit for classes taken at your high school, bring a copy of your transcript from the college where you received credit.
  3. The last Start Right Advising session scheduled for winter term is Thursday, January 3rd, at 9 a.m.

Students with Prior College Experience

  1. Submit official transcripts from any previous colleges.
  2. Bring a copy of your transcripts (unofficial is fine) to your Start Right Advising session so that the advisors can use your previous college coursework to better advise your first term at Lane.
