Effective Learning Courses

EL 110 - Effective College Reading - This course has an emphasis on reading and study strategies for disciplinary-specific texts. It offers an introduction to discipline-specific study methods and approaches to successfully read course textbooks and assessments, how to navigate information technology in the subject area, and how to develop rich academic vocabulary.

EL 115 - Effective Learning - This course is designed for students who are reading at college level and who wish to strengthen their study skills and strategies. Students will learn how to take notes from lectures and textbooks, study for tests, improve memory, read and study from textbooks, manage time effectively, and use the library.

EL121 - Effective Digital Learning - This course introduces students to the major skills and knowledge needed to learn effectively in digital environments and from digital texts. Students will gain an understanding of time and self-management strategies, critical digital literacy skills, including active online reading and media comprehension strategies, and media analysis skills for use in fully online, partially online and face-to-face classes where digital texts may be used.
