LaneFunder is a crowdfunding platform created to empower people across the Lane Community College community and raise money for projects they are passionate about. Lane crowdfunding initiatives foster innovation and inspiration, and enhance the Lane Community College experience.

Please see below for other FAQ about LaneFunder and crowdfuning in general. Please note, the distribution of funds made through LaneFunder follow all LCC Foundation distribution protocols. Additionally, any direct solicitations made to Lane County businesses on behalf of a LaneFunder project must be approved by the Foundation in order to aviod potential conflicts with existing Foundation relationships.

  • Will I receive a receipt for my contribution?

    Yes, Lane Community College Foundation will send you a receipt for your contribution shortly after you make your gift. 

  • Who can use LaneFunder to crowdfund?

    Any student club or organization, faculty member, or staff member of Lane Community College can used LaneFunder to raise money for a LCC-related project. You must be one of these designations from initiation to completion of a crowdfunding project. 

  • Where does my contribution go?

    All gifts to LaneFunder projects will be directed to the designated fund listed on the online giving form. 

  • When will my credit card be charged?

    Your credit card is charged immediately upon finalizing your gift on the site. 

  • What projects are eligible for crowdfunding?

    The project should be charitable in nature, and you should be able to clearly demonstrate how it will improve teaching, learning or student experience at LCC or the surrounding community.

    Projects funding individual needs (for example, tuition, textbooks, or rent) are not eligible. Projects seeking to use LCC intellectual property or to support a LCC business spinoff are not eligible. Projects that promote a specific religion, ideological viewpoint, or political bias are not eligible. 

  • What method of payment does LaneFunder accept?

    LaneFunder only accepts credit card payments (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover). 

  • Should I crowdfund?

    Make sure you know the basics of crowdfunding before undertaking a project. Read our Crowdfunding Checklist and Related Policies and Guidelines to see if it’s a good fit. Be sure to understand the timeline and amount of work required for a project to be successful. A poorly managed project reflects badly on the rest of the projects featured on LaneFunder. 

  • Is there a minimum donation?

    Yes, due to the cost of processing gifts, $10 is the minimum donation we can accept at this time. 

  • Is my contribution tax-deductible?

    Yes! All philanthropic contributions to the projects are tax-deductible as prescribed by law. 

  • How will I know if and when the project reaches its funding goal?

    You are encouraged to regularly visit the project page to look at the funding progress. Project leaders will send regular communications and updates to keep their contributors engaged during their campaign. 

  • How does crowdfunding work?

    To be successful, LaneFundraisers need to utilize their social networks to solicit donations for their project. Before you decide to crowdfund, it’s important to make a 100% daily commitment to your project through its promotion and beyond its completion. Regardless of whether you make your goal, you will keep the funds you raise.

  • How do I collect donations made to my LaneFunder project?

    The distribution of funds made through LaneFunder follow all LCC Foundation distribution protocols (see: https://www.lanecc.edu/foundation/policies).

  • Can I solicit donations from businesses to my LaneFunder project?

    Yes, but any direct solicitations made to Lane County businesses on behalf of a LaneFunder project must be approved by the Foundation first in order to aviod potential conflicts of interest.

  • Are international donations accepted?

    Yes, LaneFunder accepts international gifts via credit card.
