EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Community College has been named a Best Place for Working Parents®, a designation overseen locally by the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce and Onward Eugene as part of the national Best Place for Working Parents® network.

The designation highlights businesses and organizations that demonstrate support for employees through practices that benefit working parents while strengthening business outcomes. Employers complete a confidential self-assessment that measures policies proven to positively impact recruitment, retention, satisfaction, and productivity.

One of the ways Lane Community College supports employees and students with access to the Lane Child and Family Center, the college’s on campus child development center. The center operates as a lab school for students in the Early Childhood Education program while providing high quality care for children ages 18 months through 5 years old. Enrollment is open to student families, staff, and the community. Scholarships and tuition assistance are available, and families are encouraged to visit the program in action.

Lane Community College earned the designation alongside more than two dozen local organizations, including the City of Florence, Eugene Chamber of Commerce, Eugene Family YMCA, Hershner Hunter LLP, Lane Workforce Partnership, OCCU, Reynolds Electric, Rosen Aviation LLC, Summit Bank, Sweet Cheeks Winery, The Ford Family Foundation, Twenty Ideas, United Way of Lane County, University of Oregon, and Willamalane Park and Recreation District.

The Best Place for Working Parents® program provides real time designations to businesses of all sizes across the country. The recognition underscores employers that offer family friendly policies such as parental leave, child care support, flexible schedules, and other benefits that help working parents thrive.
