Board of Education Seeks Applicants to Fill Vacant Seat

The Lane Community College Board of Education declared the Zone 1 seat vacant on March 8, 2017, and has set April 1, 2017, as the deadline to apply for appointment. Zone 1 represents primarily western Lane County and includes Florence, Veneta, and west Eugene. Applicants must be registered voters and must reside in Zone 1 of the district.

Term of service will last from appointment through June 30, 2017. The seat will be up for election in May 2017 for the four-year term beginning July 1, 2017, and ending June 30, 2021. Sharon Stiles resigned from the post effective March 8, 2017.

Lane Board of Education

The Board of Education has primary authority for establishing policies governing the operation of the college and for adopting the college's annual budget. The board's charge is to oversee the development of programs and services that board members believe will best serve the needs of the people of the Lane Community College district.

The board holds public meetings the second Wednesday evening of each month, normally in the Boardroom, Building 3, main campus. Monthly meeting dates are subject to change and are included on the previous month's agenda. Additional meetings are held as needed.
