EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Community College (LCC) Public Safety, in collaboration with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and Springfield Police Department, will be conducting a comprehensive safety training exercise on Wednesday, May 29th, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The drill on LCC’s main campus will take place in and around Building 15, which will be locked down and used exclusively for the training purposes during this time.

This planned exercise is part of LCC’s ongoing commitment to campus safety and preparedness in emergency situations. The drill will involve both uniformed and plain clothes law enforcement officers. It's important to note that there will be no live fire, simulated ammunition, or use of sirens throughout the drill to maintain the learning environment’s integrity. Additionally, no loud hailing or loudspeaker usage will occur during the exercise.

"This drill is a critical component of our commitment to campus safety,” said Lisa Rupp, Director of Public Safety at Lane Community College. “It allows us to assess and enhance our emergency procedures and ensure that our campus community is prepared for any situation. We appreciate the cooperation of everyone on campus and the participation of our local law enforcement partners in helping to enhance our readiness for potential emergency situations."

To ensure that all students and employees are informed and prepared, notifications about the details of the drill will be sent out prior to Wednesday's exercise. Building 15 will not be accessible during the drill, and we advise students and faculty to plan accordingly.
