Learn more about the Dance Program at Lane
The Works Student Dance Concert
The Works is an annual student dance concert held in the Ragozzino Performance Hall which provides a venue for students to create and produce their work. It is the culmination of a yearlong course of study to develop choreographic and performance skills. The courses include Dance Improvisation, Dance Composition and Group Choreography. Students explore costume and lighting design to fulfill their artistic visions.
The Lane Dance Company
The Lane Dance Company is a student company directed by lead faculty Bonnie Simoa, and is dedicated to the creation and performance of contemporary dance. The company performs new and repertory work by faculty and guest artists. The concerts are performed in the beautiful Ragozzino Performance Hall, and are supported by our talented costume, lighting and stage designers including James McConkey. Through dancing in the company, the students develop themselves as performing artists and also develop a sense of responsibility, professionalism, and a supportive work ethic. Dedicated and talented students may audition for the Lane Dance Company fall term. Rehearsal commitments involve four to six hours of weekly rehearsals. The Lane Dance Company attends the American College Dance Festival.
Open Show
At the end of each term, students in all dance classes come together to perform on the main stage in a setting that is informal, supportive, and fun. Open Show provides the opportunity to hone performance skills in a supportive environment. Open Show fills the Ragozzino Hall, so don't miss your next chance to see why!
Collaborations
Collaborations dance concert contributes to the vitality of the local dance scene by sponsoring works of community and guest artists and providing performance training for the talented students in the Lane Dance Program. Modern, Jazz, Improvisation, HipHop, Balinese and African dances are presented in a shared concert program. Performing with local dance artists is both an honor and a learning experience for Lane's students and offers a bridge between the educational and professional dance worlds.
