Eugene, Ore. – Student Production Association of Lane Community College will hold auditions for their production of the brand new play by New York playwright Crystal Skillman, “Rain and Zoe Save the World” directed by Willow Norton in The Blue Door Theatre at Lane in Building 6 on Monday, November 28 from 4:00-7:00. Callbacks and auditions for those who cannot make Monday will be held Tuesday, November 29 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

The Student Production Association is pleased to bring this exciting new play to life. It was workshopped at the Oregon Performance Lab on Lane’s campus this summer and recently received a workshop reading at the Ensemble Studio Theatre in NYC.. Those who saw it at OPL are encouraged to come see how it has developed. Those new to the play will be treated to a theatrical story of two young people who embark on a cross country motorcycle trip to join an environmental protest. Along the way they are guided by the ghosts of their past as well as the moon and creatures of the forest, and they realize the true danger of living in the world today might just be growing up.

The production will be directed by Eugene native Willow Norton. Ms. Norton has recently relocated back to Eugene after spending years as a working theatre artist in NYC. SPA is excited to be working with her again after her successful work on “In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play” three years ago. This production was hailed as a turning point in SPA’s jump to a higher level of production practices.

Auditions are open to students and community members. Musicians and dancers/movers are encouraged to attend! Actors may arrive between 4:00–7:00 pm; no need to sign up for an audition time. To schedule an alternate audition time, contact Brian Haimbach (below). Auditions will consist of readings from the script, no need to prepare a monologue.

At least six roles are available. No roles have been precast, and all genders, types, and ages will be considered. Rehearsals will begin in January or late December, and performances February 10-26. Rehearsals will be scheduled based on actor availability.
