EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Community College is now accepting applications for fall enrollment in the PASS Lane program, a supportive academic and career training opportunity for adults whose first language is not English.
PASS Lane, which stands for Preparation, Academics, Support, and Skills, is part of Lane’s Integrated Education and Training initiative. The program helps students strengthen their English reading and study skills while earning college credit and preparing for careers in high-demand fields. Participants receive individualized coaching, access to financial and academic support, and a choice of career-focused tracks.
Program tracks for fall 2025 include:
Trades: Students prepare for entry-level jobs in construction and related fields while earning credits toward Lane’s Entry-Level Trades Worker Certificate. The program includes an introduction to apprenticeship options and training in the essential skills needed to become a successful candidate.
Culinary: Students learn foundational cooking or baking and pastry skills in hands-on, daytime courses at Lane’s Main Campus. Each participant receives coaching and English language support tailored to their needs.
Early Childhood Education: Students prepare for work with young children in a flexible format. Evening classes are available by Zoom with an option to start with training in Spanish. Participants may also qualify to earn up to 11 college credits based on their professional experience.
PASS Lane is designed to remove barriers for English learners seeking career advancement. The program supports both full-time and part-time enrollment and includes wraparound support services to help students stay on track.
Two in-person information sessions will be held on Monday, July 29, at noon and 6 p.m. at the Mary Spilde Downtown Center, 101 W. 10th Ave., Eugene. Prospective students can learn more about the program, ask questions, and begin the application process.
