“Turkey Shorts” continues Nov. 17-19 at LCC

"Turkey Shorts" performance at LCCStudent Productions Association of Lane Community College presents “Turkey Shorts 2016,” a world premiere of seven new works for the theatre. Performance dates are November 10-12 and 17-19 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances November 13 and 20 at 2:00 p.m., all in the Blue Door Theatre on Lane main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue in Eugene.

This premiers seven short plays written by Lane theatre students and local, professional playwrights. This production offers Lane theatre students the opportunity to take full control of the production process, beginning from the initial idea of a play all the way to closing night. “Turkey Shorts” will be directed, acted and designed by students. The plays are a mix of comedy and drama and are appropriate for ages 10 and up.

After each matinee performance, the audience will be encouraged to stay for a talkback with the playwrights. “’Turkey Shorts’ is a tremendous opportunity for fostering the development of new plays,” said artistic advisor Tara Wibrew. “This festival is a sort of incubator for students and local playwrights to work on new material, strengthen their skills, and create all-new work from the ground up. We invite the entire community to join us and be part of the future life of new plays!”

Playwrights for “Turkey Shorts” include Becca Blanchard, Paul Calandrino, Jen Ferro, Peter Manthe, Miller Savetz, and Dorothy Velasco. The productions will be directed by Becca Blanchard, Tim O’Donnell, Ty Potter, Miller Savetz, Morgan Suitor, and Ally Tigue. Cullen Vance will serve as playwright and director for a new devised work, created collaboratively with three actors.

Tickets are $5.00 for students and seniors and $10.00 for the general public. High school students always get in for free. Tickets may be purchased at or by calling Brian Haimbach at (541) 463-5648.
