EUGENE, Ore. – Lane Community College Public Safety encourages the community to take advantage of the semi-annual national Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m..
As in past years, Public Safety will have attended drop-off bins at two Eugene locations: Main Campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, in front of the Building 19 Center for Meeting and Learning; and in front of the Downtown Campus at 101 W. 10th Avenue.
People can drive up and drop them off. Medications for people—or pets—will be accepted.
Liquids, needles or sharps cannot be accepted.
The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
Medicines often languish in home cabinets and are susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Many people are unsure how to properly dispose of unused medicines, sometimes flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away – both potential safety and health hazards. Take-Back Day is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs to keep them out of the environment and out of the wrong hands. LCC turns over collected medicines to the DEA which incinerates them safely.
