LCC Welcomes Oregon Promise Recipients
The Oregon Promise is a state grant program created by the Oregon State Legislature in 2015 to cover some or all of the tuition at an Oregon community college for recent high school graduates and GED recipients.
Lane welcomed the first cohort of Oregon Promise students in 2015 academic year. Each year around 600-700 students are welcomed in September for annual Welcome Day. A fun filled day to get to learn about Lane, meet faculty and staff, explore career communities, resources, and our First Year Experience program. Completing the First Year Experience program is an eligibility requirement to maintain continued Oregon Promise Grant. The First Year Experience program utilizes Moodle/Lane Online, Lane’s course management system, where students receive salient student information tailored for each week of an academic calendar, and specialized information for the needs of their cohort. Students can also choose to attend an in class option.
Oregon Promise students complete a short, online or in class activity each week. Activities are designed to contribute toward the goal of sound and efficient academic, financial and career goals. It is estimated the total student time investment for the First Year Experience is 30 minutes per week.
