LCC President Margaret Hamilton joins Springfield Chamber board

EUGENE, Ore. — Dr. Margaret Hamilton, seventh president of Lane Community College, was elected to the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce board at its August 16 meeting.

Chamber board chair and LCC board member Mike Eyster said he is thrilled with Dr. Hamilton's addition to the Springfield Chamber Board. “Dr. Hamilton is a dynamic educational leader and experienced in integrating educational quality and a vibrant local business community,” he said. “The chamber board voted unanimously to add Dr. Hamilton to the board. We are very excited to have her on our team.”

President Hamilton has been reaching out to the college and the community since beginning her new post at Lane on July 1. "I am looking forward to working with the members of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce,” she said. “We’ll work together to advance our common goal of improving business and economic development opportunities for our students and for all the residents of the Springfield area."

Dr. Hamilton has 29 years experience in community colleges. Before being named president at Lane, she was vice president for academic affairs, institutional effectiveness and planning at Camden County College in Blackwood, New Jersey. She has a doctorate from Widener University, West Chester, Pennsylvania, 1995; a master of science from the University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware, 1983; and a bachelor of science from State University of New York at Plattsburgh, 1978.
