EUGENE, Ore. — The popular Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management programs at Lane Community College kick it up a notch on May 5 and 6 with Food Scene Eugene.

On May 5, Food Scene Eugene offers a Cinco De Mayo Experience. Guests will enjoy a cocktail party where they get to sip and re-experience last year’s winning bites and drinks and will learn to make two craft cocktails prepared by Oregon Master Mixologist, Morgan Pharis. A Cinco De Mayo inspired dinner follows paired with Azunia Tequilas where guests get to enjoy salsa dancing performances and dance lesson instructions over a four course dinner prepared by four culinary arts students who were mentored by Iron Chef competitors from Novo, Marche, Mame, and Café Soriah. Guests will have the opportunity to learn and practice the basic steps of Salsa Dancing.

On May 6, Food Scene Eugene offers a local food and beverage tasting and competition viewing experience. Guests can sample local food and spirits, vote for their favorite local bite and sip, cheer on their favorite Iron Chef and Master Mixologist competitors, and enjoy food demos, a foodie fashion show, art, and music.

Food Scene Eugene celebrates Eugene’s vibrant food and drink scene and offers guests a culinary adventure focusing on how food and drink intersect with art, innovation and technology.

“Our mission is to connect the community to the local food and drink scene, Lane's future culinary and hospitality industry professionals, and educate them on innovative, creative, and new technology all related to food,” says Mat Kline, dean of Conference and Culinary Services at Lane.

Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management faculty and Center for Meeting and Learning staff designed the curriculum for students to be able to have a hands-on learning experience working with industry professionals such as chefs, restaurant owners, event planners, marketing and graphic designers, to gain valuable industry knowledge.

Tickets are $75 Friday, $45 Saturday, and $120 two-day package. Tickets are on sale at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/food-scene-eugene-tickets-31689721811
