Every student deserves the opportunity to pursue their educational goals. Through donor contributions, the Land Community College Dreams Fund supports eligible LCC immigrant and refugee students by reducing financial barriers to education and helping them pursue career training, and work toward their goals.
How the LCC Dreams Fund helps students
The LCC Dreams Fund provides financial assistance to students who face barriers to accessing federal financial aid, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, other Dreamers, and first-generation immigrants. Assistance primarily supports tuition, but may also help cover fees, books, educational supplies, outstanding student account balances, and other education-related expenses.The LCC Dreams Fund currently includes the following funding sources and partnerships:
- Esperanza Fund: Supports students transitioning from English language learning into college credit classes to pursue vocational training, certificates, or degree programs.
- Puertas Abiertas Fund: Supports first-generation college students of Latino/a descent in degree programs.
- Career Pathways Industry Partnerships: Local businesses and industry partners help cover tuition and connect students with employers through PASS Lane vocational training programs. These partnerships support students pursuing Career Pathways Certificates in areas such as health professions, construction, education, and office skills.
- Mexican Consulate IME Becas Scholarship: Available during fall term only. Supports students of Mexican origin with demonstrated financial need.

Why This Support Matters
For many college students, an unexpected expense can become a major barrier to completing their education. According to Inside Higher Ed, 36% of surveyed college students said an unexpected expense of $1,000 or less could threaten their ability to stay enrolled. A UnidosUS survey found that 85% of Latino college students surveyed experienced food insecurity, and 66% had considered leaving college.
Your donation helps reduce financial barriers that can interrupt a student's education. Timely assistance can help students navigate unexpected financial challenges, stay enrolled, and keep moving toward their educational and career goals. Sometimes a few hundred dollars can make a meaningful difference in a student's ability to continue their education.
