EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Community College will celebrate its 57th Annual Commencement on Saturday, June 11, beginning at 10 a.m. at Bristow Square in the heart of main campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave, Eugene. Following two years of virtual events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be the first in-person ceremony since 2019. The event will be accessible via Lane Video Streaming and captioned.

The keynote speaker will be State Sen. James Manning, Jr., who will also be recognized with the 2022 Distinguished Alumni award along with his late wife Lawanda Manning for their community service and advocacy for community colleges. Additional speakers include LCC President Dr. Margaret Hamilton, LCC Provost Dr. Paul Jarrell, LCC Board of Education Chair Lisa Fragala, and student and faculty representatives.

“I am so excited to once again celebrate commencement on campus with our students and their families,” said LCC President Margaret Hamilton. “I couldn’t be more proud of these graduates, who completed their educational journeys during some of the most challenging times in recent memory.”

LCC is asking graduates who plan to participate to RSVP online before May 20. Graduates from the classes of 2020 and 2021 are also invited to participate. Additional information is available on the Commencement website.

The June 11 event will be the final commencement ceremony as president for Dr. Margaret Hamilton, who retires June 30 following five years as the chief executive officer of Lane and more than three decades in higher education. Dr. Stephanie Bulger will become LCC’s eighth president July 1.
