Lane Titans' Bella Hamel announces commitment to University of Oregon Basketball

EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Titan Bella Hamel will be trading in her blue uniform for green next season as she has committed to transfer to the University of Oregon and play basketball for the 2023-24 season. The 5’9” guard is a graduate of Liberty High School in Hillsboro, Oregon, and is in her second season at Lane Community College.

"We are very excited for Bella,” said Women's Basketball Head Coach Greg Sheley. “Her dedication, hard work and continued belief in herself has paid off big with this opportunity at Oregon. I can't think of anyone more deserving of this great accomplishment." 

Hamel has excelled at Lane Community College, earning a spot on the 2022 Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Women's Basketball All-Region First Team for the Southern Region and 2022 Freshman of the Year for the same region. She won NWAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week recognition three times last season and twice so far this season.

A 6A first team all-state honoree as a senior in high school, Hamel is second in the NWAC for averaging 19.8 points and 13.3 rebounds, as well 3.8 steals and 3.5 assists this season. She’s also ranked second in the conference for her shooting average of 50 percent from the field, including 42.7 percent from beyond the three-point line.
