Dear LCC Colleagues,

This month, we honor Native American Heritage Month as a special reminder to recognize and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Native peoples.

All are invited to a “Welcome to the Longhouse” today, Monday, November 24, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., in the Longhouse (Building 31). Enjoy an afternoon of welcome, story, and connection. Visitors can explore the Longhouse exhibit, enjoy a special conversation with Shyloh West, a celebrated longtime Longhouse member, and hear from the Longhouse Steward, Agléška Cohen‑Rencountre, as well as our campus and Tribal partners.

In addition, the Longhouse will be hosting a Native Plant Passport game, where participants can collect stamps, earn small goodies, and learn along the way. Weather permitting, there will also be a gathering around the fire pit. Light refreshments and treats will be provided.

All are welcome as guests of the Longhouse. This event is an opportunity to learn, connect, and reflect on the vital contributions of Native communities, as well as to strengthen the relationships between our community college and our Tribal partners.

Thank you for joining us in honoring and uplifting Native voices and traditions this month and throughout the year.

Stephanie
