Transportation & Getting Around

Walk, run, bike, or ride, Eugene offers a variety of choices to explore the Emerald City! Thanks to a large system of trails, bike lanes, and public transit routes, you’ll find a community that supports alternative modes of transportation and opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors.

Eugene rightfully earns its nickname, Emerald City thanks to its numerous green parks and its proximity to three national forests – Willamette, Umpqua and Siuslaw. Within an hour drive in any direction, you'll find yourself surrounded by forest trees, waterfalls, and trails to explore Oregon's beauty. Drive two hours west and go for a walk on Pacific Coast sand in Florence or drive two hours north to hit the pavement in downtown Portland.

Getting here is easy, too! You can fly into the Eugene Airport or Portland International (about a two-hour drive). Amtrak provides services to Eugene and there are also other bus options
