EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Community College (LCC) is excited to announce the launch of the Welcome Back Scholarship, financial assistance for returning Lane students who have an outstanding balance preventing them from registering in the upcoming fall term, starting September 26. The scholarship, funded by the Lane Community College Foundation, provides up to $300 to support students in continuing their studies.

"We believe that financial hurdles should never be the reason a student can't finish their education,” said LCC Vice President of Student Affairs Colman Joyce. “The Welcome Back Scholarship is our way of saying, 'We've missed you, and we're committed to helping you cross the finish line.'”

About the Welcome Back Scholarship

The LCC Welcome Back Scholarship is committed to providing financial relief to students who had to pause their studies due to financial challenges. This initiative aims to remove financial barriers, enabling students to re-enroll and complete their education.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for readmission, if necessary: Students who have not attended classes for more than one year must apply for readmission.
  2. Fill out an application: Interested students must complete a Welcome Back Scholarship application by September 19, 2023, at 11:59 pm. The application form is accessible at lanecc.edu/WelcomeBack.
  3. Consult with Academic Advising: Before registering for classes, students are required to connect with Academic Advising to create a class comeback plan for the Fall 2023 semester.
  4. Register for Classes: To qualify for the scholarship, students must register for the Fall 2023 semester and remain enrolled through October 5, 2023.

Important Note: Students with a registration hold due to an outstanding balance with the College should contact the Bursar's office to lift the hold before registering. If possible, students should send an email from an LCC student email account to bursar@lanecc.edu and provide their L number and phone number.

Limited Funds, Apply Soon!

Funds for the Welcome Back Scholarship are limited. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to increase their chances of receiving a scholarship. For questions or additional information needed to complete the application, please call 541-463-3100.

Additional financial aid available

In addition to the Welcome Back Scholarship, which assists returning students with outstanding balances of up to $300, LCC offers various other financial aid resources. "I urge students to explore their financial options by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, commonly known as FAFSA," commented Kathy Campbell, LCC's Director of Financial Aid. "Numerous avenues exist for students aiming to return and finish their studies. One notable program is the 'Fresh Start' initiative from the U.S. Department of Education. It empowers returning students, even those who have previously defaulted on federal student loans, to become eligible for financial assistance." Learn more about the 'Fresh Start' program.
