A. The current President of the Lane Community College Student Government Association (SGA) shall serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Board for all regularly scheduled monthly Board meetings. The SGA President will not be expected to attend other meetings and sessions unless deemed appropriate by the Board Chair and the SGA President. The SGA President shall be administered the oath of office as follows:
“I, ______________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of the State of Oregon and the Laws thereof, and the board policies of the Lane Community College District. During my term, I will faithfully and impartially discharge the responsibility of the office of non-voting, student Board member to the best of my ability.”
The student Board member shall be copied on all relevant Board notices; agendas and other materials; shall have a seat at the Board table; and may participate in all Board discussions. The SGA president shall deliver the student report at Board meetings. The student Board member shall not vote, participate in executive sessions, nor be counted for purposes of establishing a quorum.
In alignment with Board Policy 2755, the SGA President, as the ex-officio student Board member, is expected to participate in Board orientation to support effective engagement in their role.
B. In the absence of the SGA president, their designee will provide the student report; however, such designee may not sit at the Board table or participate in Board discussion.
Board Policy 2755 - New Board Member Orientation
