The President shall assure that the Board of Education is informed and supported in its governance responsibilities.
Accordingly, the President shall:
- Submit reports required by the Board in a timely, accurate, and understandable manner, directly addressing applicable Board policies, goals, and performance expectations.
- Keep the Board informed of relevant trends, significant issues, anticipated adverse media coverage, or material external and internal changes, particularly changes that may affect Board policies, institutional priorities, or strategic direction.
- Advise the Board if, in the President's opinion, the Board is not in compliance with its own policies or established governance practices, particularly in cases where Board actions or behavior may be detrimental to effective governance or the working relationship between the Board and the President.
- Present to the Board sufficient staff and external perspectives, issues, and options to support fully informed Board deliberation and decision-making.
- Provide a mechanism for official communications from the Board, its officers, or its committees.
- Communicate with the Board as a whole except when (a) fulfilling individual requests or providing information; or (b) responding to officers or committees duly authorized by the Board.
- Report in a timely manner any known noncompliance with Board policy or applicable law.
- Include on the consent agenda items delegated to the President that require Board approval by law or contract, along with the appropriate supporting documentation.
- Provide semiannual budget planning information to support the Board’s fiscal oversight responsibilities.
