The Board of Education governs on behalf of the citizens of Lane Community College in accordance with the authority granted to it by state law. The Board of Education is responsible for the quality and integrity of Lane Community College.
The Board of Education is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities to:
- Represent the public interest;
- Establish policies that define the institutional mission and set prudent, ethical, and legal standards for college operations;
- Assure the Board operates in an open, accessible, welcoming spirit, and maintains a culture that supports Lane Community College's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusions
- Establish policies that ensure Lane Community College operates in a way that supports its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion ;
- Hire and evaluate the President of the institution;
- Delegate power and authority to the President to effectively lead Lane Community College;
- Assure fiscal health and stability;
- Monitor institutional performance and educational quality;
- Advocate and protect Lane Community College;
- Regularly review and approve the Lane Community College’s vision, mission and core values; and
- Evaluate the quality of educational programs and organizational performance using Lane Community College’s vision, mission and core values.
