What I do at Lane

The LCC Library is the heart of our campus! Since the pandemic, I work from home and on campus, helping students by chat, email, and Zoom to develop topics for research, to find relevant sources, and to understand different types of information. I love to work with Library users to find all kinds of information resources for academic research, pleasure reading, art -making, and creative endeavors. Email is the best way to contact me.

An important part of my job is library instruction. I teach classes on how to find and use information, and I collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy concepts into their courses. I create tools to develop skill-building for research and academic success. I create research guides and select materials for purchase in many subject areas. If you would like a specific workshop for yourself or for your students, please get in touch!

On campus, I serve on multiple committees and projects related to the Library and campus initiatives including the Library Makerspace, the Honors Program, Faculty Professional Development, outreach, and library programs.

During Spring term 2019, I did sabbatical research about libraries and refugee and newcomer communities, With Literacy and Justice for All: Library Programs for Refugees and Newcomers. An article on the project was published in How Public Libraries Build Sustainable Communities in the 21st Century, Advances in Librarianship, Vol. 53 (2023). During the period February 2021 - February 2025 I am a Fulbright Specialist for libraries.

I am a recipient of a 2024 I Love My Librarian Award from the American Library Association, with support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the New York Public Library.  I am so floored by this honor!
