EUGENE, Ore. — The Lane Community College Foundation will award the President’s Circle Award for Philanthropy to an individual, a corporation, and a foundation at the President’s Circle reception on May 4.

The President’s Circle Award for Philanthropy recognizes donors for their ongoing financial support, their advocacy for Lane’s mission through their leadership and/or volunteer service, and their support of philanthropy in the community.

  • President’s Circle Award for Philanthropy–Individual will be awarded to Julie Aspinwall-Lamberts and James Ellison. Both Julie and Jim worked at LCC for more than 20 years. Julie is one of the founders of Womenspace, and established an endowed scholarship at Lane in support of survivors of domestic violence. She says, “If I can give a sliver of hope for one person, it will be worth it. Education may be the only opportunity they have to change things around.” Jim passed away in November 2016 from causes related to Alzheimer’s Disease, but his legacy at LCC lives on through the James Ellison Endowed Diversity Scholarship.
  • President’s Circle Award for Philanthropy–Corporation will be awarded to PeaceHealth Oregon Region. For the past 15 years PeaceHealth has generously provided faculty support for Lane’s Nursing Program. PeaceHealth has made significant donations of medical equipment to train students, and were major donors to the construction of the Health & Wellness Building. They also offer clinical placements for students in Lane’s Nursing program.
  • President’s Circle Award for Philanthropy–Foundation will be awarded to The Tykeson Family Charitable Trust. The Tykeson Family Charitable Trust has a long history of supporting Lane Community College. They were significant supporters in the transformation of the college’s Center Building into a 21st century learning commons at the heart of Lane’s main campus as well as lead donors towards the creation of the Health and Wellness Building. The Trust has also supported scholarships, the Harvest Dinner and the Art Gallery at LCC.

“We are thrilled to be able to honor these generous donors whose history of support has had a tremendous impact on the lives of students and Lane County residents,” said Wendy Jett, Director of Lane Community College Foundation.
