EUGENE, Ore. — The Student Production Association (SPA) of Lane Community College presents “The Essentials: A Virtual Storytelling Event,” an original work to be performed online, written by LCC students and community members in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The production is a pre-recorded livestream event to be held Nov. 19-21 starting at 7:30 p.m. “The Essentials” is a free performance and the recording can be viewed any time after the live events. Get the link to the livestream on the SPA Facebook page, @lccspa. The run time is approximately 45 minutes with a live Q&A after each show.
The production features seven storytellers and seven dancers from the Lane Community College community who creatively express what the concept of “essential” means to them. To make the stories come to life and enhance the audience experience, each story is accompanied by original music composed and performed by Cullen Vance, with new dance performances conceived and choreographed by the LCC dance faculty and students. After each show, there will be a Q&A with members of the production team.

- November 19-21: Livestream starts at 7:30 p.m. with Q&A to follow.

- Nov. 21: Tech Q&A after the show.
This event goal is to bring the community together during times of social distancing, civil unrest and other personal hardships, by sharing a wide range of stories from diverse perspectives and experiences. Under the direction of story coach and director, Eric Braman, SPA is excited to blend storytelling, choreography and music to create an immersive theater experience that gives community members the ability to share their essential stories.
The Student Production Association of LCC produces three full productions annually, offers various workshops to the broader Eugene community, and showcases work from LCC acting classes. SPA is a resource for LCC students to create theater in all its forms and see their work come to fruition in productions.
