Child and Family Education Department (CFE)
Welcome to the Child and Family Education Department at Lane Community College! We provide a variety of services to children, families and students in Lane County.
There are three programs in the department:
Early Childhood Education prepares students for successful careers as child care professionals in a variety of settings such as child care centers, on-site child care centers in the business community, Head Start and Even Start, or in a family child care business operated from their own home. Attend classes to build your skills or choose between a one year certificate or a two year Associate of Applied Science Degree. Lane’s Child and Family Center is a State licensed center located on the main campus that provides care for students, staff and community families. The Child and Family Center is open from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm., Monday-Friday and serves children 30 months to five years old. Classrooms are staffed and assisted by professional teachers, Lane students and parents. The center is a lab school for students in the Early Childhood Education program and a cooperative where parents can work to reduce their fees. Limited child care tuition assistance is available. Department office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday and Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. . The Department office is open throughout the year, with closures on holidays and college-wide in-service days.
