The Personal Care Aide (PCA) Program

What limitations are there for PCAs?

PCAs cannot work in hospitals, nor in skilled nursing facilities.

Is there another caregiving class I can take that will hone my caregiving skills and help me get a job in the field?

Yes. Personal Care Aides (PCA) work as caregiving staff for in-home care, assisted living, residential care, and adult foster home agencies.

How does the PCA class compare to CNA1 classes?

This is a slower-paced class, and includes only one test. A PCA is not required to be certified. More than a dozen local employers provide special hiring promotions (higher wage, retroactive scholarships, etc.) to those who pass the PCA course. 80-85% of PCA students who pass the class get jobs in the field.
