The Background Investigation Unit is responsible for the comprehensive investigation and clearance of new candidates for employment as Dispatchers, Cadets, and Officers in Public Safety. Each new candidate is assigned a specific Background Investigator. This specialist, interviews candidates, obtains a completed questionnaire, and then begins a lengthy process of talking to acquaintances, employers, relatives, other law enforcement agencies and military personnel (when applicable) to gain a full understanding of the candidate's background . A full criminal history check is conducted and fingerprint records are obtained. The fingerprint records are sent to the Oregon State Police and the FBI. Investigators prepare comprehensive reports and assessments on suitability for employment with LCC Public Safety.
