Lecture and reception Feb. 15
EUGENE, Ore. — Lane Community College Art Gallery is proud to present Adam Grosowsky: Paintings, an exhibition featuring work from regional artist and Lane Community College faculty, Adam Grosowsky.
Adam Grosowsky is a mid-career artist who received his BA from Evergreen State College (1981) and his MA (1984) and MFA (1986) in printmaking from the University of Iowa. He studied under Mauricio Lasansky and Keith Achepohl. He is constantly painting, producing 50 to 60 paintings a year, as well as completing numerous commissioned works. Since 2005, Nordstrom Inc. has commissioned him to paint 80 grand-scale works for their flagship department stores across the country.
Grosowsky began to receive serious attention when he started working in large scale oil paintings on canvas in the early 1990s. At that time, he had sell-out shows at Augen Gallery in Portland, the prestigious Hackett-Freedman gallery in San Francisco, and the Kurt Litke Gallery in Seattle. Currently, he is represented by Rare Gallery in Jackson, WY, the Roby King Gallery in Bainbridge Island, WA, and locally at the Karin Clarke Gallery in Eugene, OR.
Grosowsky maintains a studio in Eugene, and has taught painting and figure drawing for the last 25 years as a full-time faculty member of Lane Community College.
This exhibition runs from February 8 to March 22. The gallery will host an artist talk and reception on Thursday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following.
