EUGENE, Ore. — Bring your questions and prepare to engage in discussion with finalists for the position of Lane Community College president at three community forums in January, each from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Room 114 of Lane’s Downtown Campus at 101 W. 10th Avenue in Eugene.
The forums will be held Tuesday, January 17 with Dr. Peter Maphumulo; Wednesday, January 18 with Dr. David Rule; and Thursday, January 19 with Dr. Margaret Hamilton.
Each finalist also will attend forums with Lane students and employees; meet with the Presidential Search Advisory Committee from 4:30-5:25 p.m. in Room 112 of the Downtown Campus; and join board members for breakfast and dinner.
Dr. Peter Maphumulo is vice president for instruction and student services at Victor Valley College in Victorville, Calif.
Dr. David L. Rule is former president of Bellevue College in Bellevue, Wash.
Dr. Margaret A. Hamilton is vice president for academic affairs, institutional effectiveness and planning at Camden County College in Blackwood, New Jersey.
The presidential search began in March 2016 when President Mary Spilde announced that she would retire in June 2017, after 16 years as Lane’s CEO and 37 years in higher education. A 33-member search committee was formed including representatives of the board, board zone appointees, faculty and classified staff unions, employee groups, student body, foundation, K-12, University of Oregon, chambers of commerce, cities of Eugene, Springfield, Cottage Grove, and Florence, and Lane County.
