GED classes available in Springfield; register by Nov. 7

Earn your GED in SpringfieldEUGENE, Ore.— Lane Community College has room available in its Springfield classes for people wanting to get a GED, for the second half of the fall 2015 term.

The program offers instruction for those preparing to take the GED test, help in improving reading, writing, math and computer skills to improve college placement tests results, and meet students' goals including getting a job and entering college.

Classes are offered Mondays through Fridays, from 9-11:50 a.m. at Springfield Lutheran Church at 1542 I St., Springfield. Entry is through the door off the parking lot. Students work on reading, writing and social studies on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and math on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Springfield GED classes are free to students, thanks to a federal grant. Adults age 18 and older can register on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays now through Monday, November 7.

More students will be accepted winter term, which starts Monday, Jan. 4.

Those under the age of 18 must contact their local high school first for a release from compulsory education or a referral to participate in the GED Option program at any Lane site, including Springfield.
