“Tale of Two Palettes/Palates: Colorful Cultural Stories”

EUGENE, Ore. - The David Joyce Gallery at Lane Community College presents the third of three exhibits in the series, "Tale of Two Palettes/Palates." The current and third exhibit is "Colorful Cultural Stories." It's an exploration of cultural experiences with food, travel and hospitality. The exhibit features a delightful spectrum of artwork and art mediums and includes art created by artists from the Northwest.

colorful printDavid Joyce Gallery carries on the tradition of David Joyce, artist and teacher. The gallery supports art in its many forms and sources and serves to teach, inspire, and provide an inviting environment. The gallery creates a fresh thematic series of three exhibits each year. The gallery specializes in work exhibiting the glory and wonder of food, growing plants, culinary arts, hospitality, food markets, travel and the people who learn, work and live in these worlds.

Artists featured in "Colorful Cultural Stories" are Lynn Ihsen Peterson, Jo Warren Catherine Imo, Anne Teigen, Greg Vaughn, Annie Heron, Dan Moret, Colette Govan, Don Lee, Patti McNutt, Alysse Hennessey, Sandy Brown Jensen, Cheryl Camelio and Michael Dibitetto.

image of young girl drinking a glass of milkThis exhibit also provides a tribute wall, showcasing a collection of eclectic, photographic cutout fragments by artist David Joyce (1946-2003) for whom the gallery is named. Joyce was an art instructor at Lane for 25 years and is best known for his monumental flying people mural "Flight Patterns" at the Eugene Airport.

Directions to the Center for Meeting and Learning

The exhibit is open through fall 2015.

The David Joyce Gallery is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and during special events at the Center for Meeting and Learning in Building 19, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue in Eugene.
