CCSSEE Survey 2017

2017 Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE)

Detail Findings - Reports in this section summarize the counts and percentages for responses to each item on the standard survey instrument, and for the twenty additional Special Focus Items concerning Academic Advising and Planning. Data are presented for all students, part-time students, and full-time students at Lane, other Large Colleges, and all CCSSE 2017 participants.

  • Full-time Students - responses to all standard CCSSE questions on the Survey, by: all Lane respondents who reported they were primarily enrolled full-time, full-time respondents in large community colleges across the US (Lane is categorized by CCSSE as a "large" college), and all full-time respondents from the 2017 CCSSE Cohort.
  • Part-time Students - responses to all standard CCSSE questions on the Survey, by: all Lane respondents who reported they were primarily enrolled less-than-full-time, less-than-full-time respondents in large community colleges across the US (Lane is categorized by CCSSE as a "large" college), and all less-than-full-time respondents from the 2017 CCSSE Cohort.

  • Special Focus Items - Academic Advising and Planning (Ques 6-20) - responses to questions 6-20 Special Focus Items about Academic Advising and Planning by: all Lane respondents, all large community colleges across the US, and all respondents from the 2017 CCSSE Cohort. Report presents response distributions by part-time respondents and then by full-time respondents.
  • Benchmart Report - groups of conceptually related survey items that focus on institutional practices and student behaviors that promote student engagement - and that are positively related to student learning and persistence. Benchmarks are used to compare each institution's performance to that of simiiar institutions and with the CCSSE Cohort. The five benchmarks of effective educational practice in community colleges are: active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student-faculty interaction, and support for learners. Benchmark reports consist of tables showing the college's scores on each benchmark, followed by means and frequency tables of items in each benchmark. While the benchmark scores provide an overview of how the college is doing in particular areas, colleges must be mindful that results from the individual survey items composing each benchmark deserve examination.
