LIT - Lane International Times
WELCOME to your international student newsletter!
Welcome to LIT, our international student newsletter (also known as the Lane International Times)! LIT is your place to read up on events and activities at Lane and in the community, important school policies and deadlines, immigration updates and news that matters to YOU! It will be published Monday of Week 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 so you can start your week off fresh and informed.
We welcome your comments, suggestions and feedback! We also welcome your submissions to be published in LIT for the "Spotlight," "Photo of the Week," and "Say What?" sections of the newsletter.
Here's a little bit of what you can expect in every issue:
★ Events & Activities board – find out about Lane International Programs events and activities and sign up to get involved! Every term we host a weekly English conversation group called TGIF and every year we coordinate student trips to the Oregon coast, whitewater rafting, hiking at Sahalie Falls, the Woodburn Tulip Festival, and outlet mall shopping and an NBA game in Portland. In addition, our annual fondue party, Lunar New Year Celebration, student barbecue, Halloween pumpkin carving, Ramadan Celebration, and International Day are always a ton of fun! Which ones will you join?
★ 2-Week Glance calendar – check this for important school deadlines plus International Programs, campus and community events that might interest you
★ Spotlight – a section featuring an international student, a Lane staff or faculty, or an LCC department or program...submit yourself or a friend!
★ Photo of the Week – just some eye candy...anyone can submit a photo for publication!
★ Lane Policies & Deadlines – learn about class registration dates, grading options, class drop deadlines, transferring credits, applying to graduate, ordering transcripts, and on-campus resources like tutoring and the Career Center
★ Immigration Updates – inform yourself with updates about health insurance, reduced course load, your I-20 and student visa, driving in the U.S., taking online classes, OPT and CPT
★ Say What? – highlights one English tongue-twister, idiom, slang or funny student story about a cultural or language blunder...anyone can submit!
Happy reading and wishing you a wonderful fall term!
