General Characteristics:
A Recreational/Club Sports & Special Events Coordinator is responsible for keeping equipment in proper working order; plans, organizes, coordinates and promotes the recreational/ club sports, and special event activities for the college; coordinates staff coverage for special events held in the Physical Education, Health and athletic facility; does related work as required . Work requires well developed verbal, organizational and marketing skills. Works with Facility Coordinator for setup and use of facilities and equipment. Position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Examples of Work:
Responsible for planning, organization, budgeting, management, supervision, promotion and marketing of the Recreational and Club Sports programs.

Responsible for concession personnel and the purchase of concession supplies and equipment. Completes Financial Summary and Inventory reports for concessions and other revenue producing activities.

Responsible for game management for volleyball and basketball home games.

Collaborates with U of 0 IM Recreational Sports Department and Eugene and Springfield Sports and Recreation Departments to develop reciprocal programs. Represents LCC in marketing and promotional efforts with similar agencies.

Responsible for securing officials, statisticians and necessary personnel for Recreational Sports, Club Sports, Varsity Sports, and Special Events.

Distributes and collects Activity/Time Sheet Reports for special events from event supervisor.

Inventories, orders, purchases, and checks out equipment necessary to operate program. Reports the maintenance needs for equipment and facilities to the Facility Coordinator.

Assists in fundraising activities as needed.

Develops activity brochure and calendar for each term. Creates recreational coupon booklet and revises various handbooks as needed.

Completes and files term and year-end reports of activities and accomplishments with Athletic Director.

Initiates work orders for repair, maintenance and preparation of fields and facilities for the recreational sports and special events programs. Schedules activities and facilities for Recreational, Club Sports and Special Events; and determines activities to be offered.

Serves as contact person with groups wanting to use the area for special events and activities; assesses their needs; functions as liaison between different departments on campus to provide required services, responsible for payment of crews and assessment of charges to user groups.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of inventory records systems; knowledge of and skill in the operation of a microcomputer to keep records and control inventory; knowledge of budgeting and purchasing procedures; knowledge of and ability to apply OSHA & ADA regulations as they relate to safety and sanitation measures; knowledge of how to set up facilities for recreational club sports and special events, knowledge of fundraising activities, skill in promotional and marketing activities; skill in training and monitoring performance of staff and student assistants, ability to plan work assignments and set priorities, ability to maintain accurate records, ability to file, ability to work effectively with students, staff and community groups, ability to operate a microcomputer, ability to asses cost and quality of clothing and equipment prior to purchase for recreational use, ability to obtain a first aid/CPR certificate; ability to work evenings and weekends, ability to meet the needs of groups using the facility ability to schedule and plan for all activities; ability to organize and run concessions, ability to promote, recruit and manage a large recreational club sports program; ability to transport program participants and materials, ability to work safety. Strong public relation skills, excellent writing and verbal skills, knowledge and skill to problem solve, ability to work under time constraints.

Supervision:
Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Athletic Director. Work is performed independently according to departmental and College policies.

This position has responsibility for monitoring the work of hourly employees, student assistants, club sports, coaches and special events supervisors. This position may coordinate assigned tasks, provide priorities, train and monitor the work of student assistants.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent is required. One year of related experience is required which. should include some general office work and working at organizing and promoting recreational and club sports within an educational environment. A current Oregon driver's license may be required.

Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered qualifying.
